DB2. He speaks at major conferences, user groups, publishes articles, and has one of the top technical blogs on the
Internet.

DB2 technical update and recent happenings
Kevin Harrison, IBM
Kevin Harrison is a Certified Senior I/T Architect with broad experience in application development, database
management systems, architecture development, technical infrastructures, and system integration. He is responsible for
pre/post sales technical consulting for DB2 on zSeries in the West region. Kevin draws on a wide range of experience from
28 years of involvement with DB2 on large systems, with 19 of those years at IBM as a DB2 technical specialist. Kevin has
served as a DB2 educator, led many DB2 design/implementation reviews, and DB2/zSeries performance and tuning engagements.
Kevin serves as an IBM liaison to several regional DB2 user groups. Kevin is certified in several disciplines for DB2 on
z/OS and currently is a member of the IBM North American I/T Architect Certification board, IBM zChampions, and the IBM
Americas Data Management technical competency. Kevin most recently, is one of the authors of the IBM ITSO Redbook “DB2 9
for z/OS Performance Topics”.

Marc Costa has a BSBA Degree, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO December 1993. Accepted a Programmer
position with Mutual of Omaha in 1994. Programmed against DB2 using Cobol and Visual Basic. Accepted a position as an
application DBA, September 1998. Joined FedEx Freight System as a Sr. DBA in January 2003. Working on a DBA team
supporting all aspects of DB2, including upgrades (V7, V8), application design, SQL tuning and system tuning. IBM
Certified DBA V8.1 DB2 UDB for z/OS.

Matt Ramsey & Bob Vargo, Progressive
Robert(Bob) Vargo has twenty years of experience working as a systems programmer in the IBM mainframe
environment. Bob's focus has been on DB2 and IMS.
Matthew Ramsey has eleven years of DB2 DBA experience working in large DB2 environments at several fortune
500 companies and Government agencies.

interacting with DB2; programming, modeling, system design, sysprog and database administrator. Rob has gained
his DB2 experience working for State Farm, The Principal, Platinum/CA and FedEx. Rob is responsible for leading
FedEx Freight’s database teams, supporting all aspects of their database architecture and deployment. IBM Certified
DBA for DB2 on z. Leader of www.coloradodb2rug.org. Fortunate to be selected as a user speaker for IDUG NA
conferences 2000-2008. Top 10 speaker honors in 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007 and Best User Speaker in 2005 (NA&Europe).
